In the journey toward recovery, you are no longer alone—you are part of a community. At the core of this community are the lessons and support shared and gained from it. Your positive participation and involvement is key in maintaining a strong and thriving community. Remember that you are not alone, and that your safety and well-being is important to everyone.
The founders of Recovery in Action services are long-term members of a sober living community created 21 years ago in El Dorado County. Each of our community members have long-term sobriety ranging from 20 to 40 years of active recovery from drugs and alcohol. We have made this journey your about to embark on and know the fear and doubt you may be feeling. We have all struggled with faith, hope and acceptance. When we say we understand we do truly understand.
We also know that your illness is only the beginning of your journey and that a life of wellness is ahead of you. Community building and involvement is the bedrock of our foundation and we believe that by building a community, individuals find a sense of purpose and hope among their peers. This is truly when change begins and amazing things start to happen.
We recognize that the life of the addicted person is chaotic, exhausting and stressful. Long-term drug use causes perpetual anxiety, depression and is an endless cycle of shame, guilt and remorse. Recovery in Action seamlessly blends 12 step and spiritual healing traditions with evidence based addiction treatment and psychotherapy.
Our philosophy is to provide and nurture an environment in which our clients can have a unique personal awakening. We believe that the journey of recovery offers each person so much more than not drinking or using. Our deepest intentions are for you to experience, like ourselves, a life beyond your wildest dreams. We also know from experience that the above is only obtained by consistent effort and a willingness to practice on a daily basis the simple set of tools given to us. Our hope is that by practicing these tools daily with others you will develop a lifestyle that supports your life long after you leave Recovery in Action.
The staff here is committed to providing you with the support and resources that can help you along the way. The journey toward recovery is rewarding and life-changing, but not without its challenges. No matter what support systems or resources are given to you, it is up to you what you do with it; similar to the cliché “life is what you make it”, the same principle holds true with this program. Some days are going to be harder than others, but remember that many have navigated this journey before you and you are not alone!
With this program, we will share with you the basics of recovery and work with you to develop a plan that will help you continue to be successful upon completion of the course. We will help you begin the next chapter of life – the remaining pages are up to you.
